Its overall planning context stems from the wave of urban sports infrastructure upgrades driven by the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, as well as the long-term impact of major international sporting events on raising standards for public sports spaces.

Spurred by the World Cup event framework, numerous Brazilian cities have continuously advanced the modernization of sports facilities—both before and after the tournament. This has transformed many community sports fields from traditional, basic pitches into multi-functional sports spaces capable of supporting competitive training, community access, y youth sports development.

This project is a community-level sports field upgrade undertaken against the backdrop of global sports development. Its overall design philosophy aligns with the safety standards and operational logic of international competition venues, yet its functional positioning prioritizes long-term public use and multi-scenario accessibility rather than serving as a venue for professional matches.

Centered on football, the facility also accommodates cricket training, community tournaments, school PE classes, and daily fitness activities for the general public; it is a quintessential example of an “urban sports space extending from the legacy of the World Cup.”

In terms of overall planning logic, the project emphasizes not merely “usability,” but rather alignment with four core principles derived from professional competition standards:

  1. Systematic safety zoning (active zones, circulation paths, and spectator buffer zones)
  2. Comprehensive protection for ball sports (containment for high-speed sports such as soccer and cricket)
  3. Balance between visual transparency and an open experience (optimized sightlines for match-grade viewing)

These community-oriented sports facilities differ from standard competition venues. While they do not necessarily require professional-grade dimensions or full-scale spectator stands and extensive supporting infrastructure, they do demand high standards regarding safety fencing, ball containment, zoning, and long-term durability.
Such facilities typically feature the following characteristics:

  • Relatively flexible dimensions
  • Multiple functional zones
  • Broad user base
  • High frequency of daily use
  • Must balance safety, durability, and cost
  • Ease of future maintenance

Fencing is a fundamental component of such projects. If the fence is too low, balls easily fly out of the court; conversely, if it is too enclosed, it obstructs visibility and diminishes the sense of openness. Therefore, the type and height of the fencing must be tailored to the specific function of each area.

For outdoor fencing, initial installation does not guarantee long-term stability. In environments with high humidity, high temperatures, and strong UV radiation, critical risk areas include weld points, connectors, mesh panel edges, and gate structures.

Therefore, this project places special emphasis on designing robust anti-corrosion and weather-resistant systems regarding materials and manufacturing processes.

7. Sample Approval, Client Factory Inspection, and Order Confirmation Process

Prior to the official launch of mass production, Command completed the trial fabrication and prototyping of the fencing system samples in advance, in accordance with the project’s technical requirements and detailed design drawings.

Upon completion of the sample fabrication, the client visited the factory to conduct an on-site inspection and verify the product details, thoroughly reviewing the entire production system and specific product features. Through on-site sample comparison and physical verification, the client approved the fencing system’s structural design, manufacturing craftsmanship, and surface finish, confirming that the samples met the project’s operational standards and engineering requirements. Following sample approval and the final verification of technical details, the client formally confirmed the project order, initiating the mass production phase. Subsequently, the factory launched the large-scale production process based on the approved specifications, including:
  • Steel cutting and structural welding

  • PVC anti-corrosion coating application
  • Fencing mesh and panel forming

  • Quality inspection and finished product testing
